The Best Things

For some reason, my friends and I always end up discussing what we look for in a guy. What is that one defining characteristic that makes us fall, hard? Of course you can narrow it down to a list...funny, smart, nice, interesting, moralistic, manly, gorgeous...all the above. But what sets the right man apart? I guess we won't know unless we see it though, right?

When I was a freshman in highschool, my English class did a project about what we looked for in a future spouse. We had to write extensive lists of descriptions and discuss why we picked them. Then, our parents had to fill out what they thought would be a good match for us. My parents wrote long, extensive lists...again with the usual characteristics. I don't remember any of them except one that my dad wrote. Out of a list of around 100 the only one I can recall one (weirdly, I can even remember what it looked like on the paper). Why? Not sure. And I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I can imagine reading through the list and stopping:

-"bit of daring"

...that's all it said after the bullet point. This awkwardly worded phrase was my dad's way of telling me I need a fighter. Not that jerk who punches someone at a bar, but the man who is passionate about something. A believer; strong-willed and just as feisty as me.

Right now I am writing this blog to Sarah and Steph. So here is your assignment:

Find that ONE characteristic. Something that you are lacking or something that you consider a weakness. Just like I need someone who doesn't play games, you guys will find that someone that plays off your biggest flaw, in the best way possible. Just as its true that Jesus works through our imperfections, I firmly believe that our future men will do the same. Beauty from our brokenness.
